Welcome to Gaypride Gambia

Fighting Hatred & Homophobia

Welcome to The GayPride Gambia Media Network movement & online magazine. We have occupied this battle field for over two decades, fighting the enemies far too numerous to mention. Wea re growing stronger. The darkness is receeding slowly but the war against us is far from over.

For over 20 years Yahyah Jammeh told us that we were vermins, lowest of the lowest, the scum of the earth, ragamuffins, and the worst kind of creature that has ever walked the earth. He terrorised us, abused us, sent spies, police and soldiers after us to ruin us and exterminate us. He declared that he himself will slaughter us like mere goats, sheep or cow. He was the typical homnophobic tyrant, the ugliest type of Muslim you have ever encountered who feels that if he kills a gay man or Lesbian, Allah will give Him gold medals when he gets to heaven. He is why GayPride Gambia was created. We wanted to have the media tool to fight back and to say; "Damn it! We are people too!

Our campaign has been to ask people to leave us alone. Gambia, just like the other backward looking nations like Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Uganda and many others are full of homophopbic people. People who dislike other people and make it their business to determine who can fall in love with who and who can sleep with who. We are determined to fight homophobia wherever it rears its ugly head.

Despite surviving the Yahyah Jammeh era, we are still surrounded by millions of hostle forces, plotting, planning, scheming, and perfecting their hunting tools, to sniff us out, drag us out, shame us openly, parade us publicly, vilify us, use thir political & religious powers to silence us, capture us and destroy us. They say we are an abomination to Islam and they say we are worth extermination like the people of Sodom & Gomorrha, but we belong to the same heavenly creator. So, why kill us? They say they are doing what God says to do. Who can fight mentality like that? Alas, their God does not chase, hunt and kill liars, adulterers, thieves, fornicators, womanisers, prostitute users, liars, cheats and murderers - no! Their God is a selective God.What a shame?
